Susie Burt – The Alpine Gardener
I have lived in Chamonix for over 20 years, my line of work has usually been in the tourist industry working for small tour operators in a variety of roles over the years. Since Covid-19 has hit the world and impacted all our lives its forced me to reconsider my career choice and look to an alternative.
I have always had a love for gardening. My parents had a lovely garden where I grew up in the UK and I have memories of helping my mum pot-on tiny seedlings, mowing the lawn with my dad and picking endless vegetables and fruit all summer long.
I want to pursue my love of gardening and show others how wonderful it is to enjoy the interaction with a garden and plants no matter how small a space you might have. What a great benefit it has to your mental health and wellbeing. How much fun it is to show your children how to grow real food from tiny seeds. To be able to pick flowers to brighten your home, fresh herbs to cook with and fruit from a tree to eat.
When I am not gardening I am a mum to my young daughter, I ski, trail run, mountain and road bike and fly a paraglider and enjoy my time in the beautiful mountains that surround Chamonix.
Contact me if you want to discuss your next garden project.
